Because we are blessed to live in America, we have the latitude to have attitudes and lifestyles that would likely get us killed in other parts of the world. One of the phrases that I will use consistently throughout my practice and teaching is “you are the product of the consequences of all of the choices you have ever made. If you don’t like where your life is, through a series of more beneficial choices you can change your life.” In short you can manage your life.
My general purpose in starting this blog is to further the conversation about managing and therefore improving the quality of your life. I need to make it very clear that I have a reputation for being blunt and I make no attempt to be politically correct. I try to keep all of my conversations about managing life grounded in science and observable outcomes.
I plan to present information under the three headings of physical, emotional and spiritual. I openly admit that over the years I have found, and currently am financially invested, in products or procedures that display strong evidence of being beneficial. Two of the companies in which I hold an interest are Water Pal and Guardian Angel Minerals. Over the course of my attempt to inform the public about managing life I will discuss those products and procedures and direct interested parties to websites for more information.
Over the 20+ years of working in public service, community mental health, addiction, co-occurring disorders and private practice I have developed what I believe is a very strong and empowering, science-based, approach to wellness. The areas of physical wellness, emotional wellness and spiritual wellness overlap to provide the basis as well as the framework to overcome illness and live the best life possible. I also believe absolutely that wellness can only be attained by an individual who believes that they can achieve a greater level of wellness and then pursues logical changes in behavior to allow them to manage their life.
I have taught community, college and university level courses as well as presented at national conferences but I must admit that this is my first attempt at blogging. If you have questions please feel free to contact me through this website and I and my staff will attempt to answer each and every concern as openly and honestly as we can.
Thank you for your interest and I look forward to interacting with each of you.
